Before diving in, let's understand the difference between an admin and an instructor

Admin has access to the admin panel of the EDISON platform whereas an instructor does not have an access to the admin panel of the EDISON platform but will still be able to start live online sessions and moderate discussions from the dashboard.

The admin will have the ability to create classrooms, schedule live online sessions, moderate discussions, enrol students from the admin panel while an instructor can only start pre-scheduled live online sessions and moderate forum discussions.

There are situations you might want to give the privilege to start "live online sessions" to the teacher and that is when instructor privilege becomes handy.

You can also follow these steps mentioned below to UPGRADE a user as an instructor:

STEP 1:

Firstly, please click on the ‘CLASSROOMS’ tab.



STEP 2:

The next options will pop up in front of you. Please go ahead to click on the classroom as shown below:



STEP 3:

Next, Please click on the ‘USER’ tab next to the settings tab.



STEP 4: Click here as shown below:



STEP 5:

Please click on EDIT button



STEP 6:

To confirm please click on the ‘OK’ tab as shown by the below box.



STEP 7:

The below screenshot shows you the INSTRUCTORS tab so please click on the ‘INSTRUCTORS’ tab.



STEP 8:

Finally, from the instructor tab, you can see that the user has been aptly given the privilege of INSTRUCTOR.


CONGRATS!!! You have successfully upgraded a user as an instructor. It would be best if you looked for the following qualities in a future instructor:

Good communication skills

Ability to lead a group of people

Open to feedback

Comfortable with public speaking

Well-respected/carries authority with their peers
